The photograph is part of an impressive web called Stuff in Space that shows in a simulation all artificial satellites, active or not, and large pieces of space junk that revolve around our planet right now.

The work leaves you breathless. The Internet user can move away to have a broad view of the populous set or to get so close that he can see which satellites are passing through, for example, on his own country (and if it works well, even on his own city). It can also rotate the Earth and, which is equally surprising, choose any object and obtain information about it such as its name, its orbit, its altitude, its speed or what its condition is (if it is active or it is space junk).

The magnificent simulation has been done by James Yoder, student of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin (USA), and is based on data provided by Space Track, an organization that promotes the safety of space flights , the protection of the space environment and the peaceful use of space.

Of course, it is impressive to see the swarm of things that are up there, especially those that are no longer useful. Space debris increases every year. There are already about 18,000 useless objects on our heads, according to NASA, which can be a real problem. Anything larger than one centimeter could penetrate the International Space Station (ISS), putting its crew at risk. To avoid this, the orbital platform is forced to change its trajectory at least once a year to avoid collisions with larger bodies. The space agencies are looking for a way to end a problem that is growing.
