Next week, North Korea and South Korea will hold talks for the first time in two years. The news was delivered by the South Korean Unification Ministry, Friday, January 5, 2018.

South Korea's Unification Minister Cho Myoung-Gyon said that North Korea's agreement to hold a high-level dialogue will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

The confirmation comes after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un mentioned the issue of Nuclear tension in the New Year's 2018 speech.

North Korea has actually rejected all the dialogue efforts offered by South Korean President Moon Jae-In ince it was inaugurated in May 2017. North Korea even launched a series of ballistic missiles and tested its sixth nuclear.

The first meeting of the two countries that have been fighting for a long time the conflict resurfaced did not address the tensions between the two countries.

Anadolu Agency reported, the meeting is believed to be discussing North Korea's participation in the Winter Olympics in South Korea.

"The priority is North Korea's participation in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics," a South Korean official was quoted as saying by Yonhap News Agency.

"I think there will be a discussion about improving relations with North Korea after North Korea's participation in the Olympics is over," the official said without mentioning his name.

Seoul is keen to avoid drama in Jazira Korea before or during the Olympics.

To reduce the risk of disruptions in dialogue with Pyongyang, South Korea and the United States agreed to postpone joint military exercises until the March 2018 Winter Olympics.
