FSIN, courts and Ministry of Internal Affairs set a plan for the number of prisoners for labor camps for 2021-2022
The Federal Penitentiary Service, the Interior Ministry and representatives of the judiciary have agreed on a plan for the number of prisoners required for the newly created labor camp system. If in 2021 only 50 thousand Russians will go to forced labor, then in 2022 it is planned to increase this figure fivefold - in parallel with the commissioning of infrastructure.
A five-day interdepartmental conference "Labor is a matter of honor" ended in Moscow the day before, during which officials discussed how many people need to be put in labor camps and how to implement it.
“What is most important is not only the size of the workforce, but also its quality. We have reached an agreement with the courts and the police that the appropriate sentences, which then allow the start of labor exploitation, will be imposed primarily on those units who have the appropriate physical qualities to be of working age, possibly work experience on construction sites. We put forward a plan for each region, that is, the Astrakhan region should provide, say, five hundred people in a given month, the Tomsk region - up to two thousand, if peak needs need to be closed, and so on. It is already a task for the investigation and the courts to give a plan, and the FSIN will distribute this contingent to specific areas, ”said one of the participants in the event.
Separately, the issue of the possibility of quickly finding people of a certain specialty, if they are required at certain sites, was discussed. Russian Railways can take a broad part in the logistics of prisoners; for this, simplified second-hand cars will be involved. This project is still at the stage of approval.
