I find it fascinating to see how small goalies used to look in the net back in the day. The Vezina trophy has been awarded to the best goalie in the NHL every year since the 1926-27 season.
I've chosen 4 goalies from 4 different eras to show you how things have changed.
Vezina Trophy Winner 1926-1927 Season George Hainsworth
Height 5 feet 6 inches (1.68 m ) 150 pounds (68 kilos )

6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) Weight 175 lb (79 kg) He was a huge goalie for his time!

5 feet 10 in (1.78 m) 175 lb (79 kg)

6 feet 2 in (1.89) 182 pounds (82 kilos)

You mean it's not just "They keep moving the goal posts" now that we have to think about in how we play the game of life?
We also have to think about what is stuffed inside of them there goal posts? It seems that how we keep score is going to be relative. Maybe a millionaire today ain't what a millionaire was when George Hainsworth was the goalie.

I played after the Smith era. Yes, the equipment has gotten much better. Primarily the chest protector and the glove!

NHL Quebec Nordiques
Wow, very cool! Congratulations on that achievement as very few have had that experience!
Quebec had great teams and then of course went on to win cups as the Colorado Avalanche. I left Canada for Europe 22 years ago. That was the year that the Leafs traded Wendel Clarke for Mats Sundin.
A big moment in history was when Lindros refused to go there but Quebec got Forsberg ++++ In many ways it worked out better for them!
That is how I ended up with Quebec. I was one of the players involved in the Lindros trade. Here is an inside scoop you will never hear on ESPN. When Lindros refused to sign with Quebec, as 1st round draft pick, he sealed his fate. He was a targeted man in the NHL. There is a secret understanding that you never refuse your draft pick. He was targeted (physically) once he started playing in the league and suffered many concussions that ultimately ended his career early.
So you were on of the +++what a great experience. Yes I'm sure that he regretted not going there.
These hits are mostly suspensions now!

Nice post man. I'm not a huuge hockey fan, but I do like it. Probably Hasek or Brodeur are who I remember best.
I definitely have a favorite hockey video game though - NHL '94 on the SNES. You a fan of that?
Hasek was a very unconventional but highly successful goalie and Brodeur was old style stand up. The video game is great!
