what is plagiarism?
Plagiarism is the use of someone else's
language , work, expression or thought without their consent and presenting the work as your own.
Plagiarism is one very important offence as it is similar to intellectual property theft. It is important that a researcher or content creator properly cite the sources of data used in their work and also ensure they carry out their own research . There is no direct law that punishes plagiarists but it can be punished under content counterfeiting . The definition and the punishment for olagiarism varies across nationalities .

Types of plagiarism
Plagiarism occurs in different forms and some types will be discussed bellow
- Complete plagiarism : This type of plagiarism is when someone submits another person's work ; say a manuscript or report and changes the name to his .
- Source based plagiarism: This is a type of plagiarism whereby plagiarist only cites the primary source of the data used and leaves out the secondary publisher it also involves the citing of a fase source of a false link all aimed at decieving people .
- Paraphrasing plagiarism: This is a type of plagiarism whereby the plagiarist changes words in an original work without carryout any research of his own.
- Direct plagiarism : This is when the plagiarist copies theoriginal work of a researcher word for word without seeking to give credit to the origal researcher .
- Accidental plagiarism : Although under the law there are no such excuses but in reality it is possible to copy someones work by mistake . Due to the fact that billions of intellectual work has been published over the years , someone. may accidentally write something that happens to have been written before .
- Auto plagiarism : This is when a researcher reuses part of their already published content without due process.
Proper content etiquette
- Always enclose in quotation marks phrases or quotes from other sources
- Ensure that images and texts copied from other sources are properly refereced or cited
- Ensure that you carry out your own research before creating a content
