Nigeria's Prospects and expectations in the world cup RUSSIA 2018
Come next year the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be flying the green and white colours of the nation as they take on Croatia , Iceland and Argentina in that order.
CROATIA.
Nigeria's first opponent at the mundial is Croatia. This is Nigeria's first meeting with Modric's team. A team that has Barca's Ivan Rakitic, Juventus' Mario Mandzukic and Marko Pjaca. A team that loves the 4-2-3-1 formation. The team known as Vatreni (The Blazers) is ranked 17 in the world by FIFA, and its manager, Zlatko Datic, relies greatly on midfield dominance. With an average age of 27.5 yrs, the team is not lacking in experience. They have an average height of 184.9 cm, which is the 5th highest figure for all the teams going to Russia. They are one of three teams whose players that participated in the qualifiers are all based outside the country. A country that has produced greats like Davor Suker, Slaven Bilic, Ivica Olic, Zvonimir Boban, Darijo Srna( most capped player in history, and present captain) and Niko kovac. The team boasts of defenders like Lovren, Srna, Corluka, Vida and Simunic. The strenght of the lies in a quality midfield comprising of Madrid's Moderic and Kovacic, Inter's Perisic, Juventus' Pjaca, and Barcelona's Rakitic. Juventus' Mandzukic, and probably Milan's Kalinic are the threat upfront.
