Nokia 2 will not receive Android 9 Pie, it's official
Launched in Italy in 2018, Nokia 2 was one of the smartphones with characteristics capable of competing with feature-phones that looked to the market below EUR 150. But now HMD Global's bad news.
The Finnish company (Nokia Mobile brand licensee) has formally stated that Nokia 2 is not going to receive Android 9 Pie. We understand one of the strengths of the company's alternatives was to rapidly publish updates, sometimes even going beyond Google itself.
But Nokia 2 can not obtain any Android 9 Pie or subsequent updates as verified by the business with a message because of its requirements. Obviously the Android smartphone users did not receive the news with happiness.
HDM Global also indicated that "an appropriate level of end-user satisfaction" could not have been achieved by inner trials carried out on the terminal with the new operating system.
It's not even going to be feasible to think about getting the Android 9 Go Edition. This is because Nokia 2 was not intended to be used with the latter but only with the operating system's "full" variants. However, users should continue to receive updates on safety and some minor patches.
Remember that Nokia lately released version 2.2 that utilizes Android 9 Pie as its operating system. This version's launch cost is 109 euros, comparable to the first model.
