Honesty is always better than lying

I did something that made me a thief when I was about 3 or 4. As a small child, I was often curious about new things.

I remember when I was around 3-4 Years Old, I went to my neighbour's house to play. While playing there, I have seen some sketch pens of different colours lying on the neighbour's table. I am so curious about how many pens of different colours they have. So I took quietly 3 of them in my pocket & came to my home. Later that day, my neighbour came to ask my mother whether I had seen them or taken them. My mother asks me about this matter, whether I have taken any of them. So, I denied and kept them in my secret places to use them. After that, when no one is at home, I take them and draw whatever my mind asks for and show them to my friends.

But, as you know, lies cannot remain hidden forever. One day, when I thought I was alone, I took out the pens and started making drawings. Suddenly, my mother came, saw what I was doing, slapped me, and took the sketch pens to return them. When my mother returned the pens to our neighbour, the neighbour taunted her with harsh words, seeing her standing there with no words made me feel very guilty.

Later that day, my mother came to me and made me understand that if something was not ours, we should not touch or take it without owner's permission. After that I promise my mother and myself that I will never ever touch other things which is still intact.

I learned an important lesson that honesty is always better than lying, and we should respect other people’s belongings.

THANK YOU for listening to my stupidity
