New earthquake of 6.0 in Oaxaca

A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.0 was recorded in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, according to the National Seismological Service of Mexico.

The epicenter of the telluric movement has been located 40 kilometers east of Pinotepa Nacional. The hypocenter of the tremor has been located only 10 kilometers deep.

However, according to data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake had a magnitude of 5.9 and its epicenter was located 53 kilometers from Pinotepa Nacional, reported RT.

After the earthquake, seismic warning has been activated in the capital of the country, Mexico City. Multiple users of Twitter have reported that the earthquake was felt with a moderate intensity in the northern part of the capital.

In addition, the telluric movement was felt in several areas of the state of Oaxaca, as well as in Veracruz, Chiapas and Guerrero. No damage has been reported yet.

On February 16 a strong earthquake shook the state of Oaxaca and later produced multiple aftershocks. While the initial quake reached a magnitude of 7.2 magnitude, the strongest response was the last earthquake of 6.0, recorded on February 19. In total, after the earthquake there have been 1977 replicas, according to the Seismological Service.
