The Opening Ceremony of the Olympics says it all
I'm not normally the type going around all the time with my head in the clouds. I'm quite down to earth, maybe too much at times, but very well grounded. As a result of that, I'm more caught up in the moment and focused on things happening each day than I am pondering and reflecting with worldly introspection.
Regardless, as I sit watching the Olympic's Opening Ceremony tonight, there is only but one thing that comes to my mind - UNITY.
Amidst all the political diatribe in America at the moment, one would think that the world couldn't be more divided, separated by our minor differences in opinion, religion, or race. Politics and media are fueled by the fear generated by this type of division and diatribe, the us versus them mentality.
However, watching the opening ceremony in Rio de Janeiro can't help but leave one with a sense of reprieve, a smile and a positive outlook on the world. At the end of the day, there isn't much that separates us. It's easy to forget that, and events like this are the rare few that bring us closer together.
Que os jogos comecem! (Let the games begin!)
If we could treat each other with compassion and respect, people united can overcome any evil they are facing. Nice post!
Nice write up, I like the olympics but I am a bit concerned about the water quality there. Ive read some things about this issue recently. Don't know if its true or not.
Maybe some truth - then again maybe the media - a controversy/issue gets eyeballs!
