Living in India and volunteering work on an organic farm in Tamil Nadu, South India
I'm originally from the UK and have a dream (amongst many!) to grow my own food as much as i can where ever i live in the world. A few years ago i was in India and working on an organic farm called Buddah Garden, in Auroville an idealistic community based on the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, where many people from all over the world have come, leaving behind the rat race to found a new way of living together in settlements and communities. One of the main activities is farming and the conditions are harsh, very little rain and soaring hot temperatures. Buddah Garden, founded by Priya is an incredible testomy of determination against the odds.
They make their own compost from vegetable and plant waste, activating the compost with cow urine and leaf mould.

And the reward, home cooked idli and dosa after 3 hours of work before the early morning sun became too hot to work anymore. Overall it was a joy to be here and i highly recommend if you are ever in South India to stop over in Auroville to experience the joys of learning to grow your own food, one of the many projects that is happening there right now.
This is my first post - please show some love! I will reciprocate.
Any comments, tips or questions appreciated. Thankyou!
