Origami - Making more Omega Star, participation prize

in #origami6 years ago (edited)

I made a post about these a month ago and was really happy with the response. I really like the model and ended up making a bunch more and decided to share them.

Since some people already made these before it will be a lot easier to make again, I'm also hoping to see some improvement. I'd love to see some feedback, whether you struggled less, took you less time, looks better. I'll be giving away 0.2SBD for every poster, process pictures appreciated but not mandatory. No need to make a post, just a comment with the image. resteem appreciated but also not necessary.
The time limit is 7 days.

I'll just mention the people who made these last time here, hope y'all don't mind: @marblely @gmatthe2
@kwaiifaneite @javiervasquez @littlescribe
Here's a good tutorial on youtube(not by me) for anyone who wants to give it a shot. good luck ;)

Two nights ago was a pretty nasty storm out, I'm in Dalmatia currently, trees were falling, rain flooding everything. I went fishing the next day(weather was like nothing happened) and got very worried. the stray cat that usually appears when I get there didn't come. I was there for about an hour feeling anxious when suddenly out of the corner of my eye I see a white fluff ball. Was so happy and relieved, immediately gave her a fish. She even got comfortable enough to eat next to me, used to go away and come back when she was finished, probably worried I'd take it away. It was very dark and I didn't want to scare her with my phone flash to take a picture, maybe next time.
This reminded me of a old comic:

Cat photos also very welcome in the comments(no more than 5 per person :p )

Congratulations! You were featured by @bengy in the #payitforward contest. That is how I found you. All the best.

Thank you :)

First time I've made one of these @ivan-g... It was challenging with a capital 'Ch' :D
I'm happy I've tried; my paper squares were much bigger than the suggested size... I will try smaller squares and better quality paper. The last step was by far the trickiest for me because I didn't really know how much to fold... Thank you for the challenge ...

Good job :D nice colors. The last step is a bit tricky. Best way is to fold towards the center carefully pinching in between so it doesn't rip, takes practice. You did great for your first time <3 star reward sent

Thank you so much for the encouragement @ivan-g... I shall keep on practising and when I'm better I will use my favourite colour : purple :D

Your balance is below $0.3. Your account is running low and should be replenished. You have roughly 10 more @dustsweeper votes. Check out the Dustsweeper FAQ here: https://steemit.com/dustsweeper/@dustsweeper/dustsweeper-faq

well.. I don't do origami :D but thanks for the tutorials, I probably need it later.. hey this is just gave me another idea about what to play on the independence day celebration in my neighbourhood next august, Inspiring. thanks to @bengy who has featured you in pay it forward contest this week. well.. I have Cat photo.. here is Tula.

You are going to play a star cluster?

nope, but origami challenge for the kids, because I am the secretary of the steering committee in the celebration activities

Awww, what a cutie <3
Since the stars require 6 identical modules it might be a good team building exercise. I'd suggest 15cm squares.(A4 cut in half and then cut into 2 squares) good luck with the activities :D

@ivan-g as you know @bengy featured you in this week's #PayItForward contest @pifc.

I love you put a limit the number of pictures. I think this is a great way to relax and practice patiences. Very nice post!

Thank you :)

I don't know much about origami. It looks cool though. Here are our kitties instead.

So cute :D
Thanks ^^

I don't know, if I have improved, but I have certainly gotten faster. I also noticed that there is a tiny hole through the centre which would let you string these models together

That's cool ^^
I usually just stab a needle through one of the points.
I think you improved. the pinching is way smoother on this one, looks more wavy, and the corners are more precise. Good job :D

Thank you :)

Nice work on the star cluster! I really enjoyed also the Rose Bouquet but that was past payout.

I have featured you and this post for a curation competition here:

Thanks, I'm glad you like it :D
Thanks for the feature

Going to have to see if my kids can figure this out. I am horrible at origami...think it's a lack of patience thing. Glad @bengy featured you as this is a fun little post and hope it gets some extra exposure.

Thanks, hope they have fun with this little project :D

No problem, thanks for the interesting post!

Hey in just felt curious about your post image and i liked it so much! I used to make origami when i was younger, and i mean, a lot! hahaha I had my room full of origami 3d stars like yours as decoration hahaha
I still have one left that makes some cute decoration, here's an image of it.

It's my favorite hahaha but i took so long to finished it, that sometimes i wanted to quit haha
And btw, that comic made me laugh so much 😂
I really like cats but i don't have one 😢 i'll be pending of your posts and hope i can see some day pictures of that cat what you talking about. ♥
See you!

I love that model, five intersecting tetrahedra (1 part is missing but most people wouldn't notice) made a post three month ago. I know what you mean, this model is so cool but so hard to put together. Happy yo see another origami lover on steemit. Try making the omega star, free sbd ^^

Yeah, that model is a little bit older now haha but as you said, nobody will notice it haha ;) Now i remember i had problem with it when i was making it. Maybe that's why one part is missing haha
Anyways, i will try yours, to practice a little more, i think the omega star is easier, let's see how turns out :D
I'll show you when it's done! ♥

Hi there! Call me shallow but I am loving my new hobby which I got the idea from this post. Thanks to @bengy for featuring your blog on his curation which led me to here.

Here are my products. The big one is the very first one I made using old newspaper as I did not want to waste paper for my practice. The others are made of excess sheets from gift wrappers (one of those even have "Merry Christmas"). I may be creating a separate post for these. 😄

Thanks for sharing useful references like this!

So many, and really well made :o
I'll send the 0.2 but will add a minnow boost(cooldown ends in 16h), cant wait to see the post if you make.
10/10 really well made

That's so many already? Hahaha! That only shows how I am enjoying doing it. I'll be making more.

Wow, thank you very much for the prizes! I was not actually expecting any prize. I am just enjoying it. Your prizes are a big bonus. Again, thank you!

These look great! I will have to see if I can get my older daughter to try them!

Thank you.

The video is a very good tutorial even if the author is not speaking at all. I had to pause it several times so I won't be left behind.

Your daughter can do it. 😊

Those are so pretty! I still haven't tried to make those yet; I need to do that! They are so pretty, especially with the different colors! 😊

Thank you. They're not that complicated, good luck :D
