ORIGINAL MUSIC / Ensh - Krtice (experimental video)
After a few months in Canada and was getting ready for a tour the Balkan region in May with a friend in a project called Sergio Lounge. He makes these sardonic odes to traditional lounge music. He does so in a really amazing and authentic way. On top of everything else live he performs with a computer keyboard that he's turned into a midi controller. He rides that fine line between true appreciation/understanding the ridiculousness of it all. Great guy.
A hip hop duo from South Jersey called Second Womb were up in Toronto staying with me. They consist of main MC, Dookie Brownflow and beatmaker/MC, Father Earth. Father Earth was showing me some beats on his laptop of some older jams he wasn't using. So he gave me a few and I just started messing around. I gravitated towards this kind of soulful pulsating almost bouncy track that he had titled "Brek". This one took me a while to write. I had never written in the style and it was weird for me but as always I'm up for the challenge. Eventually I took what I had done to a friend of my brother's Jesse Allan. We added bass, guitar and just additional embellishments. Finally I sent the song off to my trusted engineer, mixer, producer Marko. He gave it the final sheen. Surprisingly the song sounds fairly cohesive given that it saw so many changes of hand.
The video was once again directed by my brother Aleks and once again he wanted to experiment with the limits of antiquated technology. We shot on mini DV with minimal lighting and he wanted to use the darkness to cut together clips as scene transitions. It was super creative and super fun to do.
