A Photographic Walk in Levico Terme, Trentino Alto Adige - Discovering Italy with alequandro

The sun was shining in the sky, the temperature was optimal ... it was the right day to continue the exploration of Trentino Alto Adige!

This time I was in Levico Terme a beautiful town of 8000 inhabitants that rises at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level.

Il sole splendeva in cielo, la temperatura era ottimale...era la giornata giusta per continuare l'esplorazione del Trentino Alto Adige!

Questa volta sono stato a Levico Terme una bella cittadina di 8000 abitanti che sorge ad una altitudine di 800 metri sul livello del mare.

The city is surrounded by mountains but the main economy derives from the wellness centers that exploit the thermal water present in those areas.

La città è circondata dalle montagne ma l'economia principale deriva dai centri benessere che sfruttano l'acqua termale presente in quelle zone.

Having parked the car just outside the center, we set off on a practically deserted downhill road.

Parcheggiata l'auto appena fuori dal centro, ci siamo incamminati in una strada in discesa praticamente deserta.

Not far away, a newly restored tower that was completely decorated attracted our attention.

Poco distante ha attirato la nostra attenzione una torre restaurata di recente che era completamente decorata.

It was the belvedere tower, built in the first half of the 19th century, with an octagonal plan and 18 meters high.

Era la torre del belvedere, edificata nella prima metà dell'800, è a pianta ottagonale ed è alta 18 metri.

Continuing down the road I photographed this wooden sculpture that was positioned inside a private garden.

Proseguendo lungo la strada in discesa ho fotografato questa scultura in legno che era posizionata dentro un giardino privato.

Once in the main street of the historic center, we walked among the shops and houses of the center.

There, people and some tourists walked and animated the village.

Una volta giunti nella via principale del centro storico, abbiamo passeggiato tra i negozi e abitazioni del centro.

Lì, persone e qualche turista camminavano e animavano il paesino.

An effigy on a palace recalls that in 1796 Napoleon Bonaparte moved to Levico Terme.

The scent from a coffee shop invited us to sit and have a snack so we decided to have a cappuccino and a croissant...

Il profumo proveniente da una caffetteria ci ha invitati a sederci e fare uno spuntino così abbiamo deciso di prendere un capuccino e un croissant...

After the pleasant break we headed towards the main church of Levico Terme, the church of the Redentore.

Finita la piacevole pausa ci siamo diretti verso la chiesa principale di Levico Terme, la chiesa del Redentore.

A beautiful staircase led to the facade of the church.

Una bella scalinata conduceva verso la facciata della chiesa.

The bell tower soared towards the clear sky, without clouds.

Il campanile svettava verso il cielo terso, senza nuvole.

A maple not yet bare was the setting for my shots thanks to its colorful leaves that made it all autumnal and vivid.

Un acero non ancora spoglio faceva da cornice ai miei scatti grazie alle sue foglie colorate che rendevano tutto autunnale e vivido.

That little square in front of the church was very elegant and I enjoyed walking around it to get interesting perspectives and light...

Quella piazzetta di fronte alla chiesa era molto elegante e mi sono divertito a girarci attorno per cogliere delle prospettive e luce interessanti...

It was time to visit the church!

To be honest I expected the interior to be simpler and smaller.

From the outside I had not realized that the dimensions were so large, thanks to the fact that the church is inserted between other buildings close together.

Era il momento di visitare la chiesa!

Ad essere sincero mi aspettavo che l'interno fosse più semplice e di dimensioni più piccole.

Dall'esterno non avevo intuito che le dimensioni fossero così grandi, complice il fatto che la chiesa è inserita tra altri edifici vicini tra loro.

The visual impact was strong, the colonnade is imposing and punctuates the nave bringing the eye to the altar.

After a few steps, a beautiful dome is revealed with soft tones and from the circular windows the natural light enters.

L'impatto visivo è stato forte, il colonnato è imponenete e scandisce la navata portando lo sguardo verso l'altare.

Dopo pochi passi si svela una bellissima cupola dalle tonalità tenui e dalle cui finestre circolari entra la luce naturale.

Near the apse, I turn to observe the nave from that position...

The central double lancet window and the side single-lancet windows with run-down balustrades can be appreciated.
Under the balustrade they give lightness and elegance to the three arches with the larger central one to mark the main entrance and the centrality of the architectural structure.
Interesting capitals with decorated round arches.

Vicino all'abside, mi volto per osservare la navata da quella posizione...

Apprezzabili la bifora centrale e le monofore laterali con sotto la balaustra a correre.
Sotto la balaustra conferiscono leggerezza ed eleganza i tre archi con quello centrale di maggiori dimensioni a marcare l'ingresso principale e la centralità della struttura architettonica.
Interessanti i capitelli con gli archi a tutto sesto decorati.

The luck of visiting the church with that beautiful day and at that time gave me a unique atmosphere.

A glance upward, I found myself almost in correspondence with the dome...the lights and shadows were fantastic ... I would have liked to lie down to look at it without straining myself, but I resisted the temptation! :D

La fortuna di visitare la chiesa con quella bella giornata e a quell'ora mi ha regalato un'atmosfera unica.

Uno sguardo verso l'alto, mi trovato quasi in corrispondenza con la cupola...le luci e le ombre erano fantastiche...mi sarebbe piaciuto distendermi per guardarla senza sforzarmi, ma ho resistito alla tentazione! :D

There were many other things to see ... it was still morning, so I turned around and headed for the exit to the rhythm of the reverberation of my steps that expanded into space... I thought:

• how many beautiful and interesting things there are to see in Italy!

C'erano molte altre cose da vedere... era ancora mattina, quindi mi voltai e mi diressi verso l'uscita con il ritmo del riverbero dei miei passi che si espandeva nello spazio...Ho pensato:
