Yellow Journalism- Lying Democrats & The Dangers of Politicizing the CoVid 19 Outbreak

We should update Emanuel's now famous quote by adding "Even if you have to manufacture one," a principle the Democrats have become quite adept at. When you couple this with the amplification from the complicit mainstream media what you have is the ability to create full-blown panic. I'm not saying that there's nothing to worry about from the CoVid 19 virus, what I'm saying is that politicizing it only causes confusion which in turn can turn into panic. In 2012 America was hit with an outbreak of the H1N1 flu. Obama was in the White House so the MSM was understandably silent as were the Dems in general. The result was millions infected and over 12,000 deaths- no big deal apparently. With CoVid 19 every infection related death is being treated as a national tragedy by the MSM... the only difference is that Donald Trump is in office and as we all know, "Orange Man Bad."

The problem with all of the political posturing and MSM disinformation is that we don't know just how serious this outbreak is or how we should react. The Democrats only interest is using the outbreak to gain political points in an election year- a cynical move that shows their blatant disregard for the safety of the American people and their wellbeing. In Trump's defense, he's at least trying to curb the spread by limiting travel. During the H1N1 outbreak Obama sat on his hands until over 1000 had died. If this was the case with Trump, the Dems would already have resumed impeachment hearings. In all the confusion one thing is certain, this virus has become a political football.

 Something strange is happening with respect to the novel coronavirus.  Americans are taking sides, as if a potentially deadly pathogen is a member of a political party.Many on the left appear to be whipping up hysteria and using this as their next weapon to take down Trump, while accusing those of us who support him of having a disregard for what's unfolding.  Many on the right appear to be a bit glib while accusing the left of whipping up panic, as if the fact that the left is doing that dismisses any other realities this new virus poses.Both attitudes appear to exist at opposite ends of the spectrum.  Why must anyone have either attitude to prove his allegiance to some political party or worldview? 

Instead of working together to keep ourselves and our neighbors safe, people are treating this as a political rather than a healthcare issue. The efforts by the MSM to control the narrative coupled with the tech giants censorship are working in direct opposition to the public good. What we need to make cogent decisions is the unvarnished truth, but we're getting nothing even remotely close. The Democrats and their media allies see an opportunity to skewer the president and they're potentially putting American lives at risk to do so. Perhaps there is nothing to worry about and the outbreak is as harmless as the flu or common cold, but we don't know that because the truth is being withheld- manipulated and amplified.

Farr's Law, originally devised in 1840 states that "epidemics tend to rise and fall in a roughly symmetrical pattern," a Bell Curve if you will. Aids, SARS, Ebola and H1N1 all followed that pattern. The biggest challenge that we face is that withholding information will prevent us from discerning the peak at which the trend will begin its downward trajectory... the Democrats are milking this for all its worth. After the apex of the Bell curve, as the virus dissipates so too does its political impact, something the Dems and the MSM can ill afford. Here's one example of the hysteria attempted by the MSM:

 President Donald Trump has not been tested for the novel coronavirus, the White House revealed in a statement late Monday, even though he has been in contact with a slew of politicians who have gone under self-quarantine. The president refused to answer repeated questions on whether he had been tested or not for the virus during a press conference earlier on Monday. Vice President Mike Pence said he hadn't been tested and wasn't sure if Trump had been, but promised to give an answer to that question later in the evening.   'The President has not received COVID-19 testing because he has neither had prolonged close contact with any known confirmed COVID-19 patients, nor does he have any symptoms,' White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement. 

The fact is that the president didn't "storm out of the room" as the disingenuous MSM claims- this is merely a bit of yellow journalistic hyperbole cooked up to make the president look bad. This bid for public hysteria seems to be working as well. Trading was suspended on Wall St after an early morning drop of over 2000 points. Although this is mostly due to the "oil wars" the MSM twisted it to the Dems advantage.

 It's also problematic because it's part of a string of biased incidents from the press. They're trying to panic the public. They're cheering the driving of markets down. Some of them are hoping for a recession. They're claiming chaos (I'm looking at you, 60 Minutes), when there is none. Some of them have misreported President Trump's characterization of Democrat criticism of his response as a 'hoax' into claims that Trump thinks the whole thing is a hoax, a false picture if there ever was one, given that Trump was acting very early in halting the spread of the coronavirus last January, in the throes of impeachment, as well as shutting down travel from China, something that brought the raaaacism-mongers out of the woodwork. In the past, this stoking of emotions was known as 'yellow journalism.' The only thing they aren't doing is telling the truth. 

The demographic that seems most at risk is the elderly (me) and those with other health issues, predominately respiratory issues. Most reasonably healthy adults seem to recover- children seem not to be affected at all- except as carriers. Here are some things that we know for certain:

• There is an incubation period of 2-30 days during which the person is contagious even though they may show no symptoms.
• The virus can survive for up to 10 days on surfaces such as shopping cart handles, cell phones, money and other things commonly handled by more than one person.
• CoVid 19 is transmitted through the air (coughing, sneezing, etc.)
• The symptoms may vary- it doesn't always show up with flu-like symptoms but may manifest itself as diarrhea or some other symptom.
• The virus mutates: the strain that was prevalent in China was different than that affecting Iran and places in Europe.

The mortality rate is still unknown, partially due to the Chinese government's cover-up and equally due to the hysteria being pushed by the MSM. The flu, which we're familiar with carries a mortality rate around 1%. The projected mortality rate from CoVid 19 is thought to be around 3.4%- however- this may not be right due to manipulated data from the Democrats and the politicized CDC, the spokesperson for who is Dr. Nancy Messonnier, a Democrat and sister of Rod Rosenstein. The simple fact is, we simply don't know what to expect because of misinformation and outright lies. Because a potential health risk is being used for political purposes lives are being unnecessarily put at risk, along with the national economy... all for political gain by cynical politicians who believe the lie that the end justifies the means. It doesn't matter how many die, or whether the economy crashes as long as the Democrats can gain politically. This is as cynical as you can get.
