What Happened To The Eggmeister? - LOTS!!!
Hello All,
It's been 7 years since I last posted on here and I can confirm that a lot of stuff has happened since then!
If you wish to continue, I'll present a few of the more interesting events that have impacted my life.
a) I believe I might have mentioned on steemit back in 2017 (apologies if I haven't) that my mother was diagnosed the Alzheimer's disease back in Dec. 2016. Mum had to move into a care home in March 2020 (2 weeks before the covid lockdowns unfortunately). Thankfully mum is still with us at the time of writing of this post but alas she's a shadow of her former self. I had the unenviable task of clearing and selling her home and also the 'middle of the night' visits to the hospital when she'd either fallen, succumbed to pneumonia or had a seizure in the care home.
"I decided to write a book last year documenting the odd/weird pre-diagnosis signs and the subsesquent issues and heartbreaking events that transpired since. If nothing else, it's a guide for those with elderly parents and their concerns for the potential issues that may lie ahead. I'll add a link below if you're interested?"
b) My family moved to a new address in 2019, only a couple of miles from our old place. It's an older property with a large rear garden so I could go all 'green-fingered' with the vegetable growing. Mixed results though, potatoes and onions is all I can manage with any degree of success. We do have an old apple tree in the far corner which was particularly fruitful last Autumn.
c) Some of my more hardened followers my recall the posts regarding the tuning attempts I made to my white Skoda Fabia diesel car. Well, in the Spring of 2023, I finally convinced my wife to upgrade to an Alfa Romeo. Sure as 'eggs is eggs', we've had loads of issues (mainly electrical) with our 2017 Giulia 2.0TB 'Super' but I've always managed to rectify them myself (thanks to diag. software). Of course; I couldn't leave this one alone and so it's now up from the factory 200hp to a heart-racing 324hp ;)
This is my actual car from a defunct channel of mine. No launch control and I didn't brake-boost for this video.
d) Family stuff aside, the most notable thing that has happened to me is that I went through a spell of writing. With my post-covid anxiety running amok and compounding my old depression issues, I hoped that putting my thoughts onto paper would be a soothing endeavour. I found Lulu(.com) which is a self-publishing/print-on-demand web site that allows me to make this all a reality. The aforementioned book regarding the dementia of my mother was an early creation of mine but before that, I wrote two books about my paramotoring exploits. Exploits that I've covered many times in my early steemit posts.
The book that got me all started is titled The Chronicles Of Egg. This book goes from my childhood love of flying through to the success and failures of my experimental aviation projects.
The follow up book to this I decided to call Do It Yourself Flying Machine. An Almost Complete Guide. I think this one speaks for itself but in essence it's an instruction manual to recreate my initial successful paramotor (Eggmotor) prototype.
The painful to write and yet cathartic process of documenting the story of my mums' Alzheimer's disease came next. I spent a long time trying to decide on a title, in the end I settled for; Me, Mum & Al - My Perspective on The Decline of a Loved One. You'll probably notice that I wrote this one under a pseudonym, my dad took this photo some time in the late 70s or early 80s.
Sorry folks, I know this is looking like an advert for all my recent work and so I'll not add links to my other books. You can find them all on Amazon if your interested though. I would be very grateful for any purchases made :)
I'll just list them here (all under pseudonyms):
Bob - The Average Life Of a Nobody
Destination Helston - Researching My Off-Grid Dream in Cornwall
Ollie - An Otterly Cozy Tale
The Almost Ultimate S.H.T.F. Guide
Oh! I almost forgot!!!
We got a dog back in 2021 for our daughter, she's a cheeky Jack Russell Terrier called Poppy and here she is hiding under the cushions. Guess who the designated dog-walker is though? Yup; ME!
Well, that's the ol' Eggmeister done for today. I hope it's not another 7 years before I post again.
Take care folks.
Egg.
