Yes, it's a shame, because living in LA, I'm looking forward to self-driving cars. It would be irrational to think that no accidents will occur as the kinks are ironed out. However, there are accidents every day with people-driven cars. These accidents are part of the "norm" though, and so they don't stick in people's minds like a driverless accident.
