One Nigeria; A call to the youths

in #peace7 years ago

Nigeria as we all know is a multi-raced and multi-religious country. In the past we have been able to look beyond our differences and seek to tap into the vast opportunities which this ethnic and religious differences presents after all, two heads they say is better than one.

Nowadays though, it is quite sad to see that the citizens of themes great country most disheartening of all the youths are gradually being drawn back into the web of tribalism and religion based segregation.
One would have thought that we would have learnt our lessons from the civil war that took place between 1967 and 1970 where millions of lives were lost and more Displaced. No doubt there exist great differences in our culture and religions but I'd like us to see that hatred for one another won't take us anywhere! If we can rise above these divisions and develop mutual respect for one another our dear country will be better. If there should be any competitions amongst us, it should be a healthy and productive one.

There are many dangers which this ethno-religious divisions if not checked pose to the country at large; the worst of them being war. Our political leaders have shamefully employed this tool to suit their political needs, you see so many of them taking advantage of the ethno-religious diversity to invite the public to vote for them even when the position is not deserved.

The mantle now falls on the youths of this great country to breach this ethnic and religious divide; If at all we really want the development of our country as no nation can attain sustainable development amidst strife, hatred and violence.

Remember a nation divided cannot and will not stand. #thinkpeace #thinkunity #onenigeria
