It is said that bed bugs are small bugs that are sized about 1/4 inch in length that they can't easily be seen with your bare eyes, and they are reddish-brown in colour. They have got a flat shape but get engorged after they finish a meal. These are pests that feast on the blood of humans and also on mice and rabbits as well.

Carbon Dioxide
This is what humans exhale that makes these guys attracted to us. They crave so much for this that they tend to also feed on other animals aside from humans.

Warmth
Bed bugs are so much in love with the heat generated by humans, especially that generated by two persons or more lying on a bed. It's like a gold mine to them that they get easily attracted to feed.

There are several ways your home could get infested, but I will leave you with a few:

i. Visitors transport them into your home from the environment.
ii. You could also get bed bugs in your home through the purchase of used furniture.
iii. This can also get into your home through the purchase of used clothes.

How to avoid bed bug infestation?

Some of the ways to avoid bed bug infestation include:

i. Use mattress and pillow protectors that can ward off these pests and allow for easy maintenance.
ii. Limit purchase of used furniture or clothes, or rather ensure that they are bedbug-free before taking them home.
iii. Do a lot of vacuuming as it disrupts their activities and eliminates them for the main time.

Getting rid of bed bugs can be a really difficult task. It is not possible to totally eliminate these pests, but you can actually curtail their presence in your home for a better bed rest.
