Hanauma Bay State Park, located not far from Waikiki is a great example of the benefits that protected areas can bring. Everyday thousands of visitors visit the bay and snorkel around with it's abundant marine life. This generates income that goes into keeping it protected and maintaining it's facilities.
It's success however, has come with a cost... The park is now so popular that the tourists are impacting the reef, causing corals to die off especially in the shallow areas. Perhaps creating more protected areas around the island of Oahu would help to reduce the impact to this beautiful bay and help regenerate some of the lost coral.
What do you think?

Yes, sadly, it is very difficult to prevent tourism from impacting the environent. Every time people get the information about a very beautiful natural place then everybody tend to go to visit and the environmental degradation is sure to beguin.
