Waterfall Wednesday - Wahclella Falls

in #photofeed7 years ago

During our road trip along the west coast of the US back in 2013, we stopped in Portland for two days. For years I had seen the photos of the Columbia River Gorge, now I wanted to explore some of the waterfalls myself.

There's so many waterfalls in the gorge that it's hard to pick just a few. I could have easily stayed a week and it wouldn't have gotten boring.

One of the waterfalls we visited was Wahclella Falls. As we arrived around noon the sun broke through the clouds and at first I was a bit disappointed. Because harsh light usually doesn't work well with waterfalls.

But as we approached the falls I saw that for Wahclella Falls this light was perfect. The rays of the sun lit up the mist created by the mighty cascade and created this magical scene. I climbed onto a huge rock in midst of the river, which gave me the best view of the falls.

If you also want to participate in the Waterfall Wednesday do the following:

  • Create a post featuring a photo where a waterfall is the primary subject and share some information about it - you could also pin it to the Steemit World Map. And it doesn’t need to be a large waterfall, smaller cascades are welcome too
  • Only post on Wednesdays - this will require everyone’s honesty
  • Use the tag #waterfallwednesday
  • And to create some sense of community, I suggest after posting a photo, to browse through the other submissions of the day and to up-vote at least three posts you like. Also, I would only award photos posted on Wednesdays to encourage people to stick to the rules

Resteemed!

The moment I saw this, I just had to click for the larger image, just stunning......And you managed to capture that jurassic feeling for me as a viewer, that´s good work!

Oh, btw, if you use the Steemit World Map to find the location and then click the word "code" at the bottom of the page and click exactly where you want the tag to be, they'll give you the piece of code that is (usually) invisible on your post.

Thanks for the info. Didn't know that till now

Gorgeous with that light :)

Amazing! All the green rocks and water shot with long exposure. Not to talk about sun light coming in the gorge! Simply breathtaking...

Thanks, I was really lucky with the light here :-)

This is a beautiful image with elements in a perfect balance...

I don't remember that waterfall, but the name is so familiar. Wonderful photo, which is no less than I would expect from you! :)

Thanks. It's quite popular and easy to reach. but with all the waterfalls in the gorge, it's hard to remember all of them. I just visited 7 in the two days I had ;-)

Did you get up to Punch Bowl and Metlako?

No, didn't have enough time. Did Fairy Falls, Elowah, Laturell, Gorton Creek, Wahclella and Multnomah only

Nothing wrong with that list!

Beautiful, I dont really have any waterfall shots myself but I enjoy seeing everyone else's!
