Tributo al artista Carlos Cruz Díez. Monumento al Sol. / Tribute to the artist Carlos Cruz Díez. Monument to the Sun
Bailarina: Valeria Damigella
CANON ESO 70D 18mm f/4.5 1/1250seg ISO320
Lugar: Monumento al Sol Naciente. Barquisimeto. Venezuela.

The work has a total of 32 chromatic elements of perfect geometry of long and thin blue, ocher, black and green stripes. If you look closely at the work, you can notice that each of the 32 bodies that make up the whole, are different throughout the day and in relation to the time you look, depending on the location of the sun, with the passage of the day. Those located to the north have a special chromatic temperature at a certain time that differs from those of the south. It also happens with those who look to the east in relation to the west.
At no time do the light they receive make them the same or identical. They are constantly dissimilar because they are an accurate record of time, making the whole square become a gigantic astronomical watchmaking mechanism, which marks the day at every minute, depending on the time of the light it perceives, whether in front of it, in profile or back.
Just as strange is the configuration of that sculpture, its shape and the peculiar inclination of its planes, in the same way are the calculations that Carlos Cruz-Diez has imagined to preserve the perfect balance they have, for which it has been valid of complicated computerized figures, to graduate the colors, the dimensions of the panels, the regularity of their lines and their balance.
