We're Flooded! A Major Flood Event is Occurring Right Now
Where's the road???
One of our local roads completely underwater. In the background a "dead end road" sign can be seen on the left side f the photo. It is almost completely submerged.
My part of the world is dealing with some major flooding this week. It has rained buckets here in Southern Indiana, USA over the past week. Our rivers are overflowing their banks! At the present time, the Ohio River is at MAJOR flood stage. The only thing holding back the water from inundating our towns and communities are flood walls and levees. Luckily they are holding.
This graph shows just how serious the situation is. We are at major flood stage. Countless roads are underwater across my entire area.
Bottomlands along the Anderson River are completely flooded out. There is a dam downstream from this location that is preventing the water from receding, but it is also helping communities downstream stay dry.
Tomorrow I plan on taking some drone shots of the Ohio River. It is much bigger than the Anderson River. I'll make a separate blog tomorrow for that river.
NEVER drive through floodwaters. More people die in floods than in tornadoes and lightning combined. Just because it looks safe doesn't mean it is. Bridges and culverts can be swept away, leaving a deep hole where they used to be. The best thing to do is turn around and find another route. Stay safe everyone!

Oh Wow! That's some serious business! You and yours stay safe okay? Resteemed
I'm not going to drive through any of it. Though I did have to yesterday, but it was only an inch or so deep with no current. Only for about ten feet though. Not today!
Whew. That's pretty crazy
Holy sh@t @bristowboy that is some scary stuff. keep us up to date man and please stay safe. Prayers and thoughts out to you
I will! I was late for work this morning. All my roads are flooded. I had to find a dry route.
I've not even heard a word about this. Stay safe!
Yeah it's pretty bad. The river is higher than it was yesterday.
