* *Project of the day* * Using 35mm film in old 127mm film camera

Untitled-1.jpg

Shots taken from the back seat of a bus on 35mm film.

Here is a series of 3 photos all frames connected because its quite tricky to calculate how much space is needed between each frame, but I enjoy experimenting and the effect came out pretty interesting.

So I found this vintage Brownie Camera from a second hand shop, it was very cheap and cute almost like a toy so I couldn't resist and bought it for my hypothetical camera collection. When I got home I realized the film was not 120mm like I originally thought. It was 127mm a film that has been discontinued long time ago. It is possible to purchase but its overpriced and a little bit of a pain in the a** to develop and scan.

Okay so here is where the improvising begins.

This is why I believe experimenting is part of our development and super important, because we can always discover new ways to do things!!! Just think outside the box.

So I put the camera and film under a bunch of thick fabrics so NO light can leak in. Then I taped the end of the film on to the small part that gets wound, now the tricky part is how to stabilize the canister in the camera ( because normally the 127 film sits in it's fitted space ) So I took the plastic center from an old 120 film, cut it (after many tries got the right size) attached it to the top and bottom of the 35mm (it fitted perfectly) and was also comfortably in place. So then I tried to wind it and saw that it all moved smoothly. Then time to play ! I wound it about 180 degrees after each shot and this was the effect.

Next experiment I would like to include more photos of the tools and process.

I tried to explain it as clear as possible, If you have any questions feel free to ask :)

You were lucky to find the 127 film. I've always wished to make shots with a 120 film, but in my country are hard to find (even the cameras).
Really nice, the result was awesome actually. I look foward to see your next work.

Really interesting results. Welcome to steemit, @crispianna!
