Visiting Chocó (Colombia) / Visita al Chocó #5 (Fauna and Flora)

in #photography6 years ago

The Chocó is a region rich on water and sun and it's not difficult to see a lot of wild life, in some cases very strange ones like the "zancona" planta. Go to the end of the post to see it ;-)

The "Zancona" (Big Legs) is a "walking" tree. The support "legs" can be grown or left to be rotten if the tree wants to move to a better spot to catch more sunlight. Of course this movement is a few centimeters and can take a few weeks to happen :-)

Zancona's "roots": these filaments are connected to the "legs" and take the humidity from the air and nutrients from the soil even if they never go into the ground.

Thanks, it's not poisonous at all but like all animals it would try to bite you if you bother it.
