Japan Photo Blog, Vol. 77 - Illuminated Winter Streets

hikari. “light.”
Photos of the colorful and inviting lights on the streets from a short “Dads’ Night on the Town” with @boxcarblue and @maxinpower, as we met to enjoy the seasonal cheer and talk @steemcityniigata business.
Lights on the streets, and connecting with the inner lights of friends, makes for a worthwhile time, indeed.

Very nice photos. thanks for sharing!
Wow dude, magical scenes.
An expat night on the town eh, it's nice to have a few beers with freinds from the west when living in the east. You get caught up in a foreign culture quickly when immersed in it daily, so it's great fun to interact with folks of a similar heritage.
If I ever get to visit Japan, I hope it's during the winter. These pictures are amazing. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your lens. :)
Cheers, @modernzorker! Hope you can make it soon!
Before I turn 45 is my goal. That gives me five years. Fingers crossed!
You have snow too! I love the lanterns. They add so much to the atmosphere. The trees lit up is absolutely gorgeous.
Cheers, @cecicastor. I really love the lanterns, too :)
That beer looks delicious. Nothing better than finding a warm bar for a cold beer when it's cold outside.
So true.
Do they do anything different in terms of snow removal or treating the roads?
It's more like a lack of doing anything, in many ways. Haha. Salt isn't used nearly as much here as it is in the states, and in many places there are sprinklers installed in the roads which release slightly warm water to melt the snow. Streets are pretty messy/bumpy/icy in Niigata right now.
it's always interesting to see how different people solve the same problems
The snowy city looks amazing. Will be adding Niigata to my travel list!
Excellent!
