The Goat Trail "My favorite hike so far"
As a Missouri native I was excited to take a trip with a couple friends to The Buffalo Wilderness area in Arkansas. We were going to pack in as many hikes as we could in 1 day. We fit in 3 from the top of our lists. Whitaker Point, Lost Valley and the Goat Trail.
From the small parking lot we headed downhill. You meander along a gravel/dirt trail with a beautiful view of the valley to your left for about a 1/4 mile before turning into a more wooded hike. There is a 1/2 mile section we walked down that was very steep and remember saying to the group this should be fun coming back. We all chuckled and continued on.
As we hit a large open section in the woods we are greeted by a sign guiding us to the Goat Trail
As we hit the "Goat" section of this hike it's obvious how this trail got the name. You are walking along a 5ft wide path along the side of a sheer cliff. My mind is absolutely blown and my insides are a little nervous to say the least.
There are sections where the trail squeezes to about 3ft wide and in particular one section you are given the choice to either, scale up a cliff side or put your faith in a tree overhanging the cliff and climb over it while nothing but air and ground is beneath you.

You could easily spend an entire day here. Bring a lunch and just soak in the beauty for as long as mother nature allows. We had a couple more hikes to pack in so we continued back to the parking lot.
As we were headed back we came across a pack of folks riding horses and at the very moment we passed each other a giant pack of at least 50 wild hogs came running by below us in the valley which spooked the horses and we all jumped off the path because we were not getting kicked by spooked horses.

We also still had that 1/2 mile hill to climb to the parking lot.
