My entry for the 7 DAYS STEEMIT MACRO-PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE by @flamingirl
Only first photo is contest entry.
This is a small story about someone you can see inside a sponge. After all, you will agree that a sufficiently large pipe is an excellent means of protection. If necessary, you can always run away and wait out there. Well, then carefully get to the edge and start catching plankton for dinner. That's exactly the way the shrimp came, which I found on almost every dive at Bonaire island.
To shoot at night is always interesting. Underwater life is changing dramatically. On the scene are new creatures, which you will not see for days at all. Plus the search itself in the dark, with a flashlight ... This is a separate entertainment.
You look in different crevices, inside corals and sponges. Look whether the strange bush or stone began to move. After all, the inhabitants of the microworld, in addition to their size, are perfectly disguised. And often to determine that this living creature can only be from movements that you do not expect from a twig of coral.
At your approach, especially if too much light was turned on, the shrimp quickly flew inside. I, in turn, froze and switched off a part of the lamps. Over time, the shrimp (or steam) began to rise from the bottom of the sponge outward. Well, here it was already necessary to make a few shots before they again ran away.
Well, as a supplement, I tried my old trick - flashes through the wall of the sponge. After all, it's hard to get into the long pipe with light. But if you lean one flash against the wall and put more power, it pierces inside. Well, the main thing is not to miss the shrimp. As a result, the light turns out to be very beautiful yellow-orange or red. Not at all like the sponge itself, which can be, say, blue.
In all this there is only one minus. Nerves are not enough with these shrimps. Hardly hesitated - she ran away again, or the focus in the twilight missed. And we have to start all over again. Well at least a few photos from the trip are turned out)
