The castle garden in Holešov, another piece of history of this small town

The chateau park in Holešov is a unique example of the development of garden architecture from the Baroque period to the 19th century. The whole reconstruction of the castle was originally conceived as a classic water castle, the water areas had an economic character as ponds, they also served to drain the surroundings of the castle and created a reservoir for the moat.

Today, the water areas are in the shape of a trident

The appearance of the chateau, which often corresponded to the present one, is only on a plan from the mid-18th century, when František Antonín of Rottal was the owner of the Holešov estate. Today's appearance is the result of the work of the Lords of Vrbno and the subsequent modification from the mid-1950s, when the chateau was already owned by the state. The entire chateau area was returned to the original owners after 1989, who sold it to the town of Holešov in 2005.
