flowers that grow naturally
This year, there's only one plant, and it's going to be a weed. I've never grown it and haven't seen it in the neighborhood, but this one. A few days after finding this little plant growing next to our porch, I noticed several others growing in an unmowed area next to a spot in a nearby park. While I was collecting seeds from our plants, city officials had already mowed the path wider and cut back the plants next to the boat ramp.
Sometimes unusual weather conditions allow seeds to germinate or dormant plants to emerge that wouldn't otherwise grow. And June this year was particularly wet, and it may have been brought into our yard years ago and is just waiting for this spring to grow.
Next year, who knows what will emerge? Nature always has surprises in store, and new flowers are one of the best.
