When dark clouds gather in the sky after a scorching summer, a new excitement awakens in every heart. The sweet smell of the soil, the blossoming leaves of the trees, and the round of tea and pakodas—all these combine to double the pleasure of the rain. Sitting by the window amidst the drizzle or getting drenched in a light rain instantly relieves stress. This form of nature mesmerizes everyone.

But, when this beautiful rain crosses its limits and becomes 'excessive rain' or torrential, this scene of joy instantly turns into worry and disaster. Excessive rainfall disrupts the balance of nature.

The main problems caused by excessive rainfall are:

Waterlogging and flooding: City roads turn into rivers, bringing traffic to a complete standstill. Water enters the homes of people living in low-lying areas.

Disruption of public life: Office-goers, schoolchildren, and daily wage laborers are the most affected. Power outages and internet outages are common.

Danger of Disease: Stagnant water becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes and bacteria, rapidly increasing the risk of dengue, malaria, and other waterborne diseases.

Farmers' Losses: Although water is essential for agriculture, excessive rainfall can damage crops, ruining farmers' year-long hard work.

Balance is Life: Nature's law is that excess is not good. Raindrops, which give life, can also cause destruction if they are excessive.

Therefore, the true joy of rain can only be experienced when our infrastructure is strong. We must focus on better drainage systems and water harvesting, so that we can enjoy this beautiful gift of nature and avoid the damage caused by excessive rainfall.
