A trip to the fortress of Berat
The view from the castle of the quite pictoresque and very old Gorica quarter.
The town inside the fortress walls, continuously inhabited from ancient times and part of the UNESCO heritage.
One of the many byzantine churches inside the fortress although only a few of them have survived.
The castle itself was built in the 13th century although its origins date back to the 4th century BC. Definitely worth a visit if you happen to be around south Albania. It's a 20 minutes steep climb from the city to the castle and the view from above is great. (pics don't do it justice)
