Had a lovely hike the Marin Headlands across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco
Everyone knows of the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge, and of San Francisco on one side, but ever wonder what's on the other side of the bridge?
The Marin Headlands are an amazing area to hike around, with amazing views of the Golden Gate, the San Francisco Bay, the city itself, and the Pacific Ocean stretching as far as the eye can see.
I first visited the area when I was growing up, when my 5th grade class had a week long science camp at Point Bonita, the very tip of land at the mouth of the San Francisco Bay. I returned years later with friends to see the amazing tide pools around, as well as the seal colony that lives in the area. This time, I had to return with my wife who isn't from the US and had never seen the beauty that the Marin Headlands offer.
Even the drive back to the freeway is beautiful!
It must be nice to look up at the bridge from the waters edge, doing the hike seal spotting @robhimself1
