The Reality-Warping Works of AYDIN BÜYÜKTAŞ
Somewhat similar to the worldbending sequences in 2010's blockbuster "Inception" Aydin uses his drone to create images like that in his collection called "Flatlands".
His images are merged from many composites of various images with different perspectives. Once combined they create the illusion of a twisted and bending landscape.
Each image required meticulous preparation.
Büyüktaş has always planned his shots to be a composite. He used 3D software to located possible locations for his shoot in Istanbul, Turkey and it took him 2 months to figure out how to create smooth curving shots of from multiple straight shots from different angles. Each location was photographed multiple times with a quadcopter with a camera attached to it. He also had to plan his shoots according to weather and flight restrictions. Sometimes even the birds would attack his drones and ruin his plans.
Although he originally planned on creating his collages from physical copies of the images, these didn't turn out good, which made him turn to Photoshop. Still, each image takes multiple days to put together in Photoshop, but the results speak for themselves.

In addition he also creates mindboggling images in his "Parallel Universe" series.
In these shots he combines two shots, by replacing the sky of one images with the ground of the other.
The results are great!

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. His photography is a great source of inspiration and challenges us to think more creatively in photography. I'll definitely give this type of photography a try once I get my hand on a drone.
Love this guys work - thanks for reminding me!
Just shows what can be done with modern equipment and some imagination.
Very weird, but fascinating at the same time!
indeed
Interesting!
Some of the pictures reminded me of that weird planet shown at the end of the movie Interstellar.
Yes. A bit like that too :)
Really fascinating
