Whale Watching in the Arctic Ocean [Andenes - Vesteralen - Norway]
Andenes is a village in the Vesterålen district of Nordland county, Norway.
The village of Andenes is the northernmost settlement of the island of Andøya and in Nordland county.
To the east is the island of Senja (in Troms county), and to the west the endless horizon of the North Atlantic Ocean.
The road to this village is one of the most amazing in the world it is called the Atlantic Way.
The ocean off Andenes is very productive and attracts many different species of baleen and toothed whales!
The winter months offer a lot of Orcas, Humpbacks and Fin whales which follow the herring into the Fjord next to Andenes. Therefore, Andenes is an outstanding location for superior all-season whale watching.
This time we have been lucky and we've seen many orcas (around 25 during 1 hour), they are spending winter in this area, to feed themselves before leaving, today they have been quite friendly and they've stayed around the boat chasing their food and playing.
