Lisbon Zoo - Winter experience and why is it worth visiting

Upon my return from a winter trip to Lisbon, Portugal, I have decided to share with you my experience. The reason I choose to dedicate my first post to the Lisbon Zoo is that I was AMAZED with how well they made the areas for animals and how rich the diversity of species is.

Firstly, I am an animal lover, and I usually feel sad for the animals that are kept in small areas just for people's entertainment. Lisbon Zoo is so well maintained and organized that I couldn't stop myself from saying "ooh look how they made their environment? That's beautiful! They have so much space." You could see that an area for a specific animal was made in a way that portraits their natural habitat. With more or less trees, green areas, sand, rocks, water....

Here are some of the animal envionments:
Gorillas

Indian Rhino

xy monkeys (I can't remember which type they were)

Lions

Short info about the Zoo:

• more than 2000 animals and 300 species,
• close to the Lisbon center, distance of only a few Metro stations from the main square (Jardim Zoologico station)
• have daily dolphin and sea lion shows
• benches in front of every area with animals
• Zoo's Shop, Photo Shop, Visitor Guest Service, First aid, etc.
• Children's Farm area with domestic animals
• All shows and attractions are included in the entry ticket (except the Zoo Train)
• Works from 10 am till 6/8 pm (summer/winter working time)

The Zoo is worth every penny in the winter, which makes me wonder just how breathtaking it is during the spring or summer months.
