The architecture of Lisbon - Belem Tower photo and information
Belem Tower is a military base built in 1515. to protect the Tagus Estuary from pirates and enemy attacks and was used as a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and opened for visiting.

- Walking distance from Padrao dos Descobrimentos monument and the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos
- €5.00 Torre de Belem entrance fee for adults, with discounts for families, students and older people
- Address is Av. de Brasília, 1400-038 Lisboa, Portugal
- Works from 10 am to 6:30/5:30 pm (summer/winter working time)
