Aquaculture in Salt-water Reservoirs - MyPictureDay

Floating net or floating fish cages like a fish pond we call it Keramba or known as aquaculture about the rearing of aquatic animals or the cultivation of aquatic organisms.

A fish farmer was rowing his canoe to a floating fish cage in the middle of the salt-water reservoir in Pusong, Lhokseumawe city, Aceh. The fish farmer looks funny, he wears a helmet when rowing the canoe, in fact it's a head protector when riding a motorcycle.

Lhokseumawe's cultivation fishery business is traditionally managed, work on personal initiative based on experience. The floating fish cage looks very simple, built of bamboo and wooden construction, and a small hut is in the center.

A herd of little egret (Egretta garzetta) perched on a floating fish cage, occasionally flying to the shore to hunt their prey. There is also the little tern (Sternula albifrons) around there, flying around the area is monitoring its prey on the surface of the water, sometimes plunge at high speeds to grab a small fish.

Ha ha ha ... The man who wore a helmet like in the photo above looks unique, because it is rare and unusual. Usually, a helmet is used when riding a motorcycle, not when rowing a boat.

I think he was wearing a helmet for not carrying a hat to protect his head from the sun. If we look at it from the funny side, he wears a helmet to keep his head from being pierced by a bird that often stops at the reservoir.

However, the most likely possibility is that he forgot to remove the helmet on his head after parking the motorcycle, then down to the reservoir to check the fish cages or cultivation. And, if you see the positive side of the man wearing the helmet, let's just say it as a form of "socialization to motorcycle users so do not forget to wear a helmet because it is very important to keep the head in case of a traffic accident".

Thanks @vannour has shared a unique photo.

Very pretty birds, although it sounds as if they may be problematic to the fish farm. Working from a canoe looks a little precarious, as well! What kind of fish are being farmed in this way?

I did not ask him, maybe a grouper.

Yeah the helmet is pretty funny. I'd love to have been there to ask him why.

LOL ... I think @fernandes comments represent the answer, truth and humor.

Those are some amazing photos! We did aquaponics for several years, but that would not work in salt water.

The fisher looks funny with the helmet though the images are cool. What kind of fish would be reared in a salty water like that one

I don't know, maybe a grouper

The fisher looks funny with the helmet still the metaphors are cool. I beg your pardon? manner of scout about would be reared in a saline run like that one
