How I changed from endless cardio to weightlifting
Hello Steemit!! Today I want to talk about one of the biggest changes in my fitness journey. When I first started going to the gym I was just the kind of girl who would get away from the heavy weights, I would usually do a good 40 minutes of cardio, usually at the elliptical which was torture if you ask me, and some exercises involving more cardio and really light weight, and let me tell you something…. I was miserable! I wasn’t loosing any weight, I wasn’t getting any muscle or strength and I was just doing basically the same thing over and over again, Torture right?!

I think girls when we are little we grow up with the misunderstanding that getting involve in weight lifting is a mistake, that lifting heavy weight is going to make you look more like a man and your muscles are going to grow out of proportion and loose you feminine side. This couldn’t be more wrong!
I remember one day I was sitting on the couch watching some videos when I stumble to one in particular, it was this amazing girl doing a bunch of exercises with some really heavy weight on her, I was amazed of how much she was lifting and I remember looking at her body and saying Oh My God I want to have that body right now!
She couldn’t look more feminine; she looked strong and confident, so the next day I decided to give weight lifting a try, of course it was a challenge at first, but after being doing it for about 2 years now it has truly change my life, I got stronger, I lost weight so much faster than by being on the elliptical for 40 minutes a day.
Going to the gym now and lift is the highlight of my day, is where I leave all my worries, all the stress out and I just lift, I lift as heavy as I can and to be honest I have so much fun doing it, I love picking of the weights, I love putting more weight on the bar and accomplish a new personal record.

I still have a long journey to go but if you ask me I would never ever go back to those endless hours of miserable cardio.
So girls if you are scared to get in the weights and starts doing some heavy lifting don’t be, don’t be scared to be a beginner, we all have start somewhere, it was the best decision I ever made towards my fitness journey.
