The Castle - A Sonnet - poemchallenge by @margaretwise"

The last flame in the Keep guttered down low
We found the oil before it all went out
And you refused to give up or let go
You coaxed away the choke and grip of doubt

You drove fear to shadows cast by the fire
Nurtured the spark with your strength of belief
Trusting it now the flames reached up higher
Until they lit up the Castle beneath

But flames consumed the air so you couldn't breath
Still we fought for each gasp in air too thin
Alas it ran out and you had to leave
Before our fire could really begin

I'll protect the last flame burning alone
and light up the Castle always your home

Friday poemchallenge by @margaretwise - put so much of my heart into this, not a great sonnet, but real emotions and high poetry may be a bit much to write in one day. Hope this it at least okay.
