My Mirror Lover // Original Poem

MY MIRROR LOVER

Is it possible to drown in love?
This liquid atmosphere of emotion.
I want some fresh air from above,
But I’m sinking in this ocean.

Please don’t take me prisoner,
I’ll behave well in return,
For if there’s one thing I’m avoiding,
It’s to fall and crash and burn.

I’m already emotionally fatigued,
From the heartbreak hamster wheel.
Constant headaches to remind me
What a bitch it is to feel.

Please give me a break to breathe;
A minute or two of rejuvenation.
I need to fix my heat again
Before the next lashing invasion.

Tears don’t visit me anymore,
They’ve left me like the others.
Gone with my sanity
And all the many many lovers.

I tend to give myself away
To anyone willing to listen
And share a bed in the hopes of love
From my fucked up, lustful system.

Please let me love again,
but to be careful with my decision.
I need to choose somebody who
Will handle my scratched soul with caution.

Maybe there is no one
Maybe I’ve found the one that differs,
They might be around the corner,
Or staring at me through the mirror.
