My AtoZ inspirations: O - The Obamas, the fantastic first family

O - The Obamas.

It took the Americans 200 odd years to seat a black, well a half-black, president in the most powerful seat. And a woman president still remains a hope. Mr. Obama brought grace, self-deprecating humor and sensitivity to his country’s deepest concerns, and a fearless commitment to public service. He, according to me, is certainly among the best presidents, his country has ever had. His powerful and witty speeches are a treat to hear.

His words after the 2016 elections, "Don't get cynical, don't ever think you can't make a difference. Fighting for what is right is worth it. Sometimes you lose an argument, sometimes you lose an election.", have left a deep mark on me, @ think of this job as being a relay runner. You take the baton, you run your best race and hopefully by the time you hand it off, you're a little further ahead, you've made a little progress. And I can say that we've done that and I want to make sure that handoff is well executed because ultimately we're all on the same team."

He continues to stand as an inspiration, as much as his wife, the former First Lady, Michelle Obama. She is the triple threat: brains, beauty and brawn. Few people have been able to articulate themselves as well as she does. She has said “when they go low, we go high” and she has done it amidst all the hatred the couple received. You want to be successful in life? You want to be remembered as a person of greatness?Be like Michelle Obama. Tell people what you think is worth doing and then actually do it. Walk the walk.

Both of them continue to be the sort of inspiration that we all need to look up to when leading a country, when running a family and when treating other people.
