North Carolina upholds its own Voter ID laws
I have taken a step back from politics for a couple of reasons and the main are that it just makes you angry depending on where you look at news because it is designed to do exactly that, and also because the media simply cannot be trusted no matter where you look. I get annoyed at liberals and conservatives alike that think they are enlightened or more informed when by their own admission they are getting their news from well-known biased sources.
But there are some things that manage to make their way through to my eyes and ears and one of them was that North Carolina is going to enforce voter ID laws regardless of what the Federal government decides on their never-ending debate and partisan actions.

You can go ahead and label me whatever you want by me having this opinion but I find it completely ridiculous that someone says that demanding showing some form of ID in order to vote is somehow racist. This is exactly what some civil rights groups here and elsewhere across the country claim though. I think it is racist to suggest that for some reason blacks or latinos are too stupid to be able to figure out how to get an ID but somehow also have the presence of mind to choose a good candidate to vote for.
The civil rights groups persisted in this though, and sued the State of North Carolina for discrimination or something but a federal judge upheld the rule and dismissed the complaints by the various civil rights groups.
There has also been a bunch of groups that have stepped up to help people obtain an ID, for free, if they do not know how to do it themselves. I think it is absolutely crazy that there would be someone out there that doesnt' know how to get an ID though. I'm sorry, I will never believe this is a real problem. We have to show ID for certain things for all of our lives but somehow when voting it is too difficult for people to manage to do it.
I don't buy it! I can't really imagine the mind of a person who insists that it is too difficult because I have been through this process so many times. The latest argument that I have heard is that people can't locate their birth certificate as if this was a requirement for obtaining an ID. Is it? I don't recall ever submitting my actual birth certificate for an ID but I guess I am a conscientious person because I actually know where my birth certificate is. Also, if there was ever a piece of paper that would exceptionally easy to fake, it would be your birth certificate.
I believe the debate is fake so that one particular side can claim once again, that the other side is racist as they do with so many things.
I run construction projects, that is my job. I manage teams of dozens of people during most of the year and most of my employees are of latino descent. Not a single one of them has had any issue obtaining ID and it is required that they have said ID in order to work at my sites. I have to submit paperwork to the IRS and other various government organizations and I do NOT cut corners on this. If someone's cousin or whatever wants to work on my job and is qualified to do so, I MUST have their ID. This is not racism at all, it is just something that has always been that way.
I don't talk politics with my staff often but a few of them hang out at the Elk's Lodge as well and the question has come up about ID laws and if they think they are racist. Not one of them does that I have spoken to. But maybe this is because they are all US Citizens or they have the necessary paperwork to legally work here. Could this be part of the reason mayhaps?
Before anyone accuses this judge of being partisan, it is worth noting that the judge who threw out the NAACP complaints was an Obama appointee.
36 states have ID requirements to vote and I really think it is pretty crazy that this isn't 50.
I don't pretend to be smarter than everyone else though because I know I am not. If you can present to me a genuine reason why ID shouldn't not be a requirement to vote, I would really like to hear it. Since ID is free in North Carolina and can be obtained at number of places (including on weekends) it seems to me like it is something that really everyone can do.
Something I will never understand from Muricans...
