This is the story of an ex Muslim in Bradford, UK, who converted to Christianity and was subsequently beaten up, put in hospital and had gangs of Muslims outside his house throwing things through his windows. He was disowned by members of his family and the community at large. In the end he had to leave under police protection.

There is a huge problem within Islamic communities of what could be called apostateophobia. Many ex Muslims have spoken about it and its one of those issues that almost everybody knows is a problem but doesn't want to talk about it. Wanting to hurt people because they left a religion is something that was largely eradicated in British society a long time ago, but now it is back again thanks to Islamic communities.

Whether punishment for leaving Islam is ordained the Koran or not, it is certainly a practice that exists culturally within Islamic communities and I do not want to see that sort of thing happening here in Britain.
