BREAKING: Russian journalists attacked while making a report on protests in Tbilisi, Georgia
GEORGIA PROTESTS: During the tense situation In Tbilisi, two Georgian nationalists have attacked the film crew of the TV channel "Russia 24" and attempted to beat up the correspondent and cameraman. They started shouting nationalist slogans while also behaving aggressively with the woman being recorded for the report who is the owner of a tourist business. She was describing what would happen in relation to the cancellation of flights to Georgia. Her husband also had to get involved in the confrontation and came to the defence of the Russia 24 journalists.
On the evening of June 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree prohibiting Russian air carriers from flying to Georgia starting from July 8. Tour operators and travel agents are advised not to sell tourist packages there, and the government is charged with ensuring the return of Russians to their homeland. It is possible that further measures may be implemented shall further russophobic sentiments escalate into further such cases of violence.
