Ex Washington policial elite staffer uses the word "rizz" To describe Vance
Maybe I am just getting older and therefore think that the new slang that the young come up with is stupid, just like they undoubtedly thought that what I was saying as a teen was stupid.
When I saw this headline I had to look up with "rizz" actually means. To me it sounds like something an annoying teenager who is trolling adults in a mall parking lot would say right before shouting "6-7!" at you.

Her name is Sarah Matthews and I can't help but look at her and suspect that she might have gotten her job as a Press Secretary for reasons other than her speaking and strategy abilities. She is also younger than our average politician so maybe using modern slang is just part of how she talks. I can't imagine that flying all that well in D.C. circles though. To me, this sort of statement just sounds lame as hell like when your older people try to get involved in teenage conversations by using their new completely made up words.
"JD Vance is negative rizz when it comes to charisma."
"Rizz" means "charm or flirtatious appeal" apparently and it is one of those things that probably comes from TikTok such as "unc" meaning anyone older than you and "ick" meaning something that turns you off. Hell, it took me a while to get used to "body count" and I still want it to go away.
The media immediately latched onto this comment and I think the reason why is two-fold. It is a somewhat negative things to say about Vance and they are always looking for a way to make that guy look as bad as possible, but it also has a blade on the other end because it makes Sarah Matthews, who is a conservative, look like an idiot as well. Win/win if you are a liberal "journalist" I guess.
Of course the comments section was left on for this one which is rare on Yahoo these days because they pick and choose which ones they are going to allow the public (or the army of bots) to comment on. If there is ever anything involving race the comments are turned off and if there is ever an article that even remotely praises conservative actions, those are turned off as well. This all began years ago when there was some sort of conservative push in the comment section regarding Covid policies. At the moment any story involving Fauci has the comments section turned off. Strange how that works, huh?
I don't look to Yahoo for news. I go in there to see how much whining they are doing about Trump once a week or so and they never disappoint. Every now and then they will have an article that is like this one, where the objective is to make any conservative look badly and if they are lucky, they will get two at once. Sarah Matthews used to work for Trump indirectly so now they can attack her and Trump at the same time, and get some jabs in on Vance as well.
Sadly, there are people that are affected by all of this and the comments section of this very article is a good case and point.
Politics suck in the United States and I think they have for a very long time. I don't think anyone will argue that they have certainly gotten much worse in the past 10 years though. The news is clearly biased and has an objective although it is tough to really know what they are hoping to do by throwing teenage idiot slang into a major news article. Then again, it was originally published by "The Hill" which is just a trash organization anyway, so I guess I shouldn't be at all surprised.
