Donald J. Trump took the world by storm with his landslide victory over Hillary Clinton getting over 300 electoral college votes in the 2016 election last November. Candidate Trump turned many of the always blue states red on the electoral map. The people of America were fed up with how this country has been ran by the government in recent years and voiced their opinion in the voting booth. President Trump is approaching his first full year since calling 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue his home. So how has he been doing since becoming the 45th President of the United States? You’ll have to read on to find out, I bring to you the 2017 President Trump report card.

Judicial Role

With the unfortunate passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, President Obama was tring to push through a nominee of his own in 2016 before his time in office was over. Thankfully the Republicans in congress refuse to let that happen continuously blocking Obama’s nominee Merrick Garland from taking the bench. One of the promises candidate Trump makes during his 2016 campaign is to nominate a conservative to the empty seat in the Supreme Court. Like a lot of campaign promises President Trump keeps is doing just so and he doesn’t waste anytime doing it. In January President Trump nominates federal Judge Neil Gorsuch for the remaining seat in the Supreme Court. This is important because without a tiebreaking conservative, there could be many bad decisions made that would impact this country for a lifetime. Also, with doing so the Republicans now have the majority in the Supreme Court, Senate, House of Representatives, and in the White House. For President Trump’s judicial role I give him an A. 10/10

Economic Planner

As economic planner President Trump is making all the right moves. Right away as he takes the White House he gets rid of many horrible executive orders put in to place by former President Obama. In 2015, federal regulations cost the American economy more for $2 trillion. Many of these regulations made it hard for small businesses to succeed, to pay their employees a decent wage, and very difficult to grow as a company. As a conservative and successful businessman, Trump knows the importance of keeping the government out of the way as much as possible and letting businesses make their own decisions to succeed. With re-negotiating trade deals he is also bringing in many jobs that have left this country and gone overseas. This is bringing back many jobs to America which in turn is increasing GDP. President Obama had the first administration to never have a GDP of over 3% which is horrible. It didn’t take President Trump to change that. In the second quarter of 2017 under President Trump, the GDP increased by 3.1%, which is the fastest pace in two years. If it wasn’t for the unfortunate hurricanes the GDP would be moving at an even faster rate but this is just a temporary roadblock. With all these positive changes being made by Trump the stock market is soaring at all time highs as well, which is also boosting the economy. Another big move made by President Trump that Obama was holding back is approving the Keystone XL pipeline which will create many jobs and bring in a lot of money. One last point on jobs is that Trump saved and brought back the coal industry that the Democrats were trying to eliminate which in turn saves many jobs for coal miners and also creating more jobs in the industry. As an economic planner I also give President Trump an A. 10/10

Chief Executive

There are many duties as chief executive. In this report card I will be focusing on what he’s been doing so far with appointing his cabinet members and his inner circle. Obviously the most important member of his administration that Trump selected was Vice President Pence. They both share the same ideas and want to get the same goals accomplished but they are quite the opposite personality wise. Vice President Pance is well respected in congress and knows the ins and outs of Washington which Trump doesn’t so he played a big role in helping President Trump get elected. He’s also made great selections in Secretary of State Rex Tillerson who’s been on the world stage for a long time and is well respected, and in Secretary of Defense James Mattis. He also made a great selection in White House Chief of Staff in Reince Priebus but he didn’t last long and was gone by late July being replaced with General John Kelly. Although this is happens all the time in administrations I think there’s been too much moving around in the inner circle of Trump. He knows how to communicate with his base on Twitter and on TV but communication with the rest of the country has been sub-bar. He’s already on his second Press Secretary with it currently being Sarah Huckabee Sanders after Sean Spicer was replaced. Even worse is that he’s already on his forth communications director. Hope Hicks is the current director after John Kelly fires Anthony Scaramucci after just eleven days on the job. Worst of all there are currently 354 out of 577 positions still left vacant in the administration. Not to mention his arguments with Jeff Sessions and Chief of Staff Kelly calling Trump a moron during an interview, I think the President has his work cut out for him in this area and should be doing a better job so in the role of chief executive I give him a C. 7/10

Commander in Chief

One of the biggest accomplishments President Trump has made as commander in chief is declaring victory over ISIS in Raqqa. This was their home base and where they made money and did a lot of their business but thanks to Trump and our military and some allies, not anymore. While ISIS is still alive and still claiming responsibility for many terrorists attacks is might not be for much longer now. Although this type of terrorism is an ideology passed down from generation to generation in radical Islamic terrorists and other types, this is still a big victory for Trump. President Trump is also giving the generals in the military more freedom and a bigger voice and listening to their opinion a lot more than President Obama ever did. He and the U.S. military also dropped the Mother of All Bombs on Afghanistan a couple months ago which will definitely send a message to North Korea that the United States is no one to take lightly anymore like they thought in the Obama administration days. North Korea still keeps their testing alive which will also keep testing President Trump’s patience with what he should do to get them in control. He has since put Korth Korea back on the terrorists list which puts more sanctions on them. This will be a long and drawn out road with North Korea in the future so Trump has his work cut out with them as well, but for the work he’s been doing so far as commander in chief I give him an A. 10/10

Chief Diplomat

As chief diplomat I think President Trump is also doing a great job. He is working very well with Israel, our greatest ally in the fight against terrorism and also other issues they have the same agenda on. One of the promises candidate Trump made in the 2016 election was to move our U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Although it hasn’t happened yet he’s getting closer to getting it done day by day. He also has a better relationship with China than past administrations have in the past. Trump was even invited by Chinese President Xi to the Forbidden City in Bejing for a tour and dinner, with him being the only foreign leader invited to dine there since the founding of Modern China. He also made a key speech at the United Nations addressing problems with terrorism, Iran, and North Korea. Some say this was the most authority based and inspirational speeches ever given there. Trump has also addressed the fact that other countries in NATO are not paying their fair share and I think he got their attention. This should get the ball rolling with them finally paying the money they owe for the services they’re receiving. As chief diplomat I also give Trump an A. 10/10

Chief Legislator

The biggest job of a president is keeping the country and the citizens safe. It is also important to get laws passed by Congress instead of by executive order like Barack Obama did so many times in office since they can be undone just as easily as they can be put into place. President Trump and the Republican Congress finally got the much needed Tax Reform Bill passed in late December this year which is a landmark accomplishment. It will put more money in the tax payers pockets and instead of in the government regardless of what the Democrats and the mainstream media are trying to feed you lies about. Even though it does help corporations and the rich it also helps the middle and lower class with extra money in their paychecks. This is the biggest tax reform since Ronald Reagan and the best thing about it is that it comes into effect immediately starting January first of 2018 instead of waiting a whole year like with the Reagan tax reform bill. For this reason alone I give President Donald Trump an A for chief legislator. 9/10

Extra Credit

I think President Trump is going a good job working with the people in charge of the U.S. border of Mexico. He has been stopping a lot of illegal immigration and drugs from coming into this country even though there’s a long way to go. I’m glad to see prototypes for the future wall being introduced as well. I’m also giving him extra credit for his stance on we’re bringing back “Merry Christmas” again. Time and time again as a Christian I feel like my Christian beliefs and values are getting trampled all over by liberal democrats in government. Over the years there have been nativity scenes taken down by people who were “offended” and saying happy holidays is just taking the true meaning of Christmas right out of it and President Trump is the only one in government that I know of that stuck up for it.
