New Years Resolution 1 - Ignore the Petty Trump Stuff

Yes, we know that Trump is a pathological liar. That he has no real philosophical core other than reality as a zero-sum game where morality only exists to the extent he is the "winner."

To that extent, we know he is happy to ally himself with white supremacist, with brutal dictators. We know that he is happy to make an enemy of any sort of journalistic ventures to report the facts as they sit. Anything that disagrees with his ever shifting worldview is "fake news." We know this.

We know that, to any sane or reasonable person, Trump is a clown. For instance, his recent claim that his strictness concerning commercial aviation has resulted in the accident-free 2017.

HIs constant and petty fights with media figures, we are all familiar with that. His delusional statements of being "the best," of having the "best memory" and "best brain." His constant exaggeration, none of this is new. None of it is or should be surprising.

So, I'm going to try to learn from 2017, and in 2018 will try to just let it pass over my head. No reason to take to social media if Trump, for instance, decides to come down firmly on one side or the other of the "pineapple on pizza" debate. It doesn't matter.

HOWEVER, with all that being said, I'll continue to fully digest any of his actions that represent an actual and legitimate threat to peace, prosperity, and progression. At least to the limited extent that I can. As an example:

North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!

Leave it to Trump to take the implicit dick waving contest warlords had engaged in implictly in the past, and make it explicit. No wonder that the Doomsday clock is getting closer to midnight.

So yeah, long story short, Trump is an outrage to decency on so many levels, you've got to pick and choose which ones to pay attention to. My bar is going to be set on cases where he actually

• Threatens nuclear war
• Threatens scientific efforts to understand the world
