This is a midterm election. These are the most important elections.
Exactly, this is the time where you get to pick who runs against who. You don't want a donkey to run against a race horse.
I refered to the midterm election cycle not the primary cycle. The midterm is the election of congress people and senators. Many state positions are often decided during the midterms.
