The Code of Life: Divine Decision & Algorithmic Design
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Assalamu-Alaikum-wa-Rahmatullahi- wa-Barakatuh!
Each cellular organism contains an extensive yet tightly packed digital code. The building blocks of all things are represented by both the binary system used for current computer servers and also by DNA's letter chemical alphabet. The biological design found in every living organism is ultimately a sign of Al-Khaliq (The Creator) and Al-Bari (The Evolutionary Creator) from an Islamic perspective and, therefore, reflects a humanly-made created world (i.e., through human intention).
The Qur'an refers us to the scientific precept of human existence being created from a microscopic speck of matter (a sperm) that was subsequently created with functioning abilities as follows: "And We (God) (Note: ‘We’ are used in reference to God in the Qur'an in plural to distinguish between God and the human / general use of ‘We’) created man out of a mixture of the father's and mother's sperm cell so we could test them for their hearing ability and vision and other two senses…"
– Surah Al-Insan (76:2)
To illustrate, modern genomics has shown that one drop of human sperm could potentially hold gigabytes of medicine-quality algorithmic software that originally manifested as a living organism by virtue of bioinformatics mapping the physical organization of all forms of life as creations, while God's word ultimately clarifies the true purpose of the code contained within living organisms and ultimately illustrates how both science and faith are complementary complementary in revealing to humanity the signs of creation.
